Hurricane Helene devastated Western North Carolina on September 27th, 2024. A record 31 inches of rain poured across the region in 2 days causing significant flooding throughout the area. Over 450 volunteers from across the US served along side "Operation Providing Hope" distributing over 1.2 million pounds of supplies across 13 counties for over 4 weeks , establishing a base camp at Excel College.
