On August 26, 2026, Operation Providing Hope departed Raleigh, North Carolina, and traveled to Kenya, Africa, where our team worked alongside various organizations and community partners to address basic healthcare needs, provide hands-on assistance, and help lay the foundation for the establishment of a community medical clinic.
Operation Providing Hope partnered with the Nyogaya Foundation of Kenya, an organization created to bring hope and opportunity to widows and orphans in rural western Kenya—women who had lost their husbands and livelihoods to the HIV/AIDS epidemic and were left without adequate access to healthcare, protection, and essential resources.
Today, more than 2,000 widows, lovingly known as “Jewels,” have been supported by the Nyogaya Foundation as they worked to rebuild their lives and create brighter futures for their families. Many of these women continued to face significant challenges, including long journeys to access clean water, limited healthcare resources, unsafe housing, and the ongoing struggle to provide food and education for their children.
During this outreach, the Operation Providing Hope team stepped into the community with open hearts and a focus on serving alongside the people of rural western Kenya. The team met with the Jewels and their families, assisted with house-building efforts, participated in free medical camps, and worked alongside local partners to lay important groundwork for a future community medical clinic.
Through both immediate service and long-term partnership, this outreach helped strengthen access to healthcare, support families in need, and contribute to sustainable opportunities within the community. The experience also strengthened the relationship between Operation Providing Hope, the Nyogaya Foundation, and the communities they served.
This trip marked the beginning of what Operation Providing Hope hopes will become an ongoing annual outreach to Kenya. Future trips are currently being planned, with upcoming dates to be announced.
